Another suspected cultist murdered inside Kwara Stadium

Fun seekers and shop owners at the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin last night scampered for safety as suspected cultists once again struck killing a member of a rival group, Adesoji Jatto.

The 30-year-old Jatto, who hails from Offa was said to be relaxing at a cooling spot just outside the main bowl of the stadium where he had just watched ABS held to a 1-1 draw by Rivers United when his assailants arrived the venue.

The incident which happened around 7pm was said to have caught many people unaware as the suspected cultists rejected pleas by their target before sniffing life out of him.

According to those who know the deceased, the former All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) Youth Leader is a regular caller at the Kwara State Stadium where he normally watch sporting events especially football matches alongside his friends.

“His assailants numbering about four chased after him around one of the cool spots located inside the stadium and despite shouting for help and pleading with them asking what he may have done wrong, he was shot and subsequently matcheted to death,” an eye witness disclosed.

It was also gathered that a police officers patrol team from Surulere arrived the scene after the suspects had fled to evacuate the lifeless body of Jatto.

The deceased after leaving St. Anthonys Secondary School was said to have proceeded to Kwara State College of Education for his NCE between 2007 and 2009 though it could not be confirmed whether he actually graduated from the institution as at the time of filing this report.

Jatto, who last updated his profile on Facebook, 9:38pm on July 10, 2017 was also said to be a staunch member of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) in the state, leading to the 2011 general elections.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ajayi Okasanmi said he has not been briefed on the matter but will get back to our reporter.

In a related development, a middle-aged man simply identified as Omo Alhaja was said to have been killed at Coca-Cola road Unity, close to Honeymoon Hotel, Ilorin.

The victim was said to be a customer of the facility before meeting his untimely death around 6pm on Saturday. He was said to have been killed by a gang of four who invaded the area on a motorcycle before matcheting the victim.

A source who confirmed the incident said a gun was recovered from the deceased by police officers who later evacuated and deposited his body at the morgue.
