KWARTMA suspends 2 officers for indiscipline

Two officers of the Kwara State Road Management Agency (KWARTMA) have been suspended indefinitely for improper conduct.

This was disclose by the Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, Yekeen Babatunde at the weekend.

Babatunde who lamented the indiscipline and extortion of some patrol teams traffic offenders, stressed that the agency has zero tolerance for misconduct.

He said, “the agency will not take lightly any act of indiscipline by officers and men. “If caught, you will be sanctioned appropriately.”

“The two officers placed on indefinite suspension will serve as deterrent to others and we have set-up committee to monitor activities of our men on the field.”

In a related development, the agency boss also gave recommendation letters to four outstanding officers for their diligence in the discharge of their duties.

The four officers are Ajibola Bamidele, Omotayo Olalekan Taofiq, Oyewo Adekunle Lukman and Ayanladun Gabriel with each of them receiving N5,000 reward each from the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Alhaji Amusa Bello.

Speaking, Bello charged KWARTMA officers to be disciplined, professional and vigilant in carrying out their duties.

The governor’s aide who was pioneer boss of the agency stressed that his attention has been drawn to the alarming rate at which officers of KWARTMA are extorting traffic offenders in the state.

He said, “Several people have written to us about their misconduct while performing their duties but I believe this can be corrected by restoring discipline.

“Your integrity is at stake if you can’t operate within the framework of the rules and regulations binding the organisation,” he told.
