Kwara joins UN to celebrate 2018 World Bicycle Day

 

The government of Kwara state, in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kwara Sector will tomorrow hold cycling rally event to mark the first ever United Nations World Bicycle Day 2018.

The cycling rally, titled ‘Cycling for fitness’ will be flagged off by the Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed at the Main Gate of the Kwara State Government House, Ilorin, beginning from 8.00am.

Cyclists will take off from the Government House, ride through major roads in the city, and terminate at the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.

Riders expected will come from the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, the Cycling Federation, the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Sports Council, other institutions and the general public.

Adequate arrangement has been put in place to ensure smooth and befitting celebration.

It will be recalled that the United Nations in a resolution in April 2018, declared the third of June annually as the UN World Bicycle Day.

The celebration for the first edition in Nigeria holds from 4th to 5th of June, 2018 across the state capitals and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
