United prepares for Bale signing:  Manchester United is prepared to attempt to sign Gareth Bale this summer if Real Madrid indicate that he is available.

Jose Mourinho has voiced his concern about the way clubs are “spending £30 million, £40 million, £50 million in such an easy way.”

United are still two signings short this summer, but Mourinho is confidant executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has the situation under control.

Mourinho believes Eric Bailly’s extended European ban is excessive punishment.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic may not be a United player anymore but Paul Pogba says the injured striker is still having a big impact at the club.

There have been promising signs for Anthony Martial in quest for starting spot at United, Rob Dawson writes.

Inter will consider offers for Perisic: Inter Milan will consider offers for winger Ivan Perisic that are “difficult to reject”, says boss Luciano Spalletti.

The Croatian winger has been linked with a £48m move to Manchester United.

Spalletti says Inter want to keep Perisic, 28, but would reluctantly sell the former Wolfsburg player to free up funds to strengthen his squad.

“He’s an important player in the team and we’re counting on him to start the new season,” added the ex-Roma boss.

Spalletti, appointed Inter boss in June, added: “Sure, there were rumours, but the status quo is that we want to keep Perisic.

“Having said that, if someone comes in with a very difficult offer to reject, then we’ll consider that.

“But, of course, we’ll need to find a valid alternative for Perisic as well.”

Perisic has scored 18 goals in 70 Serie A games since joining from German side Wolfsburg for reported £14.5m in August 2015.

Arsenal backs for Lemar: Arsenal is set to make an improved bid for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Apparently the Gunners have seen two offers turned down but will return with a £45m bid.

It is thought Monaco are keen to keep Lemar, having already sold several key players this summer and with Kylian Mbappe seemingly set to leave.

Meanwhile, Jean Michael Seri has again been linked with Arsenal.

The midfielder enjoyed an excellent campaign for Nice and only Thomas Lemar – another Gunners other target – managed more assists in Ligue 1.

According to L’Equipe, Nice have agreed to let the 26-year-old leave for €40m this summer. Roma were keen to finalise a deal, but couldn’t meet the release clause.

Why snubbed Chelsea for City – Danilo: Manchester City new signing Danilo says it was an easy decision to turn down a move to Chelsea after speaking to Pep Guardiola.

Ilkay Gundogan says Manchester United’s recruitment of Romelu Lukaku makes City’s cross-town rivals one of their chief competitors for next season’s Premier League title.

Leroy Sane said that he was struggling to breathe during games for City last season because of a nose problem which forced him to miss Germany’s Confederations Cup triumph.

Tottenham Chairman concerns over transfer big spending: Chairman Daniel Levy says the Premier League’s big-spending is “totally unsustainable” and believes the likes of Manchester City will face consequences for their prodigality in the future.

Mauricio Pochettino has called for Tottenham’s youngsters to be given time after the 3-2 defeat to Roma and said he is not aware of his chairman’s comments about the club’s transfer strategy.

Spurs’ youth players failed to take their chance to impress against Roma, Dan Kilpatrick writes.

Mourinho to miss out on Sanches: Manchester United look set to miss out on Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches.

The Portuguese ace has been linked with a move to Old Trafford to hook up with compatriot Jose Mourinho, who confirmed on Tuesday that he was in the market for a midfielder.

He was heralded as a future star after his performances at Euro 2016 and Bayern snapped him up for £27.5million – however he has failed to make an impact in Germany and is free to leave.

Renato Sanches played for Bayern in their victory over Chelsea on Tuesday but that could be his last game for the club as he closes in on a move to AC Milan.
