By Mumini AbdulKareem

Fresh indications emerged, last night that former gubernatorial candidate under the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) in Kwara State, Senator Gbemisola Saraki may contest the 2019 gubernatorial race in the state.
To this end, the younger sister of the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki has allegedly began subtle moves in preparation for the election.
It was gathered that a meeting chaired by one of her staunch loyalists in the state and former youth leader of Badari ward in Ilorin West Local Government, Dele Aina was held on Friday at one of the frontline politician’s facility in Adewole.
National Pilot learnt that although Gbemi was not in attendance but the meeting was convened under her full auspices tagged; the GRS 2019 project.
She is said to be “seriously” weighing the right options of political party she would likely used to launch her candidature.
During the 2015 election, she was allegedly frustrated out of the Peoples Democratic Party and later collapsed her structure to support the All Progressives Congress at the eve of the governorship election in the state.
According to highly placed sources, the latest development was part of the strategic plan for Gbemi’s preparation to test the political waters ahead of the guber race come 2019.
“Senator Gbemisola Saraki may contest the 2019 governorship race from the look of things.
“If you observe very carefully, you will notice she has begun subtle campaigns with social and civil messages in some selected billboards. These are intended to increase in the coming days to include other sectors like health.
“She is presently not in town but some of her loyalists led by Dele Aina convened a meeting to weigh options at one of her facilities located at Adewole.
“Since she left the PDP for APC, her followers have been floating and neither here nor there. They don’t attend APC meetings in their various wards and local governments and don’t attend PDP meetings either.
“Part of the discussions at that meeting which was fully held with her knowledge include to re-strategise for the GRS 2019 project”, the source added.
Efforts to get Gbemi to react to the story proved futile last as her phone did not connect.
But one of her former close associate who confided in National Pilot confirmed the development adding that she may likely relocate to the state soon.
Recall that Gbemi Saraki’s billboards urging the electorate to register for their voter’s card in order to elect leaders was spotted in strategic locations in Ilorin, recently.
The billboards sighted in places like Unity and around a failed portion of the road in Alagdado, Ilorin East Local Government Area of the state among others were however without the symbol of any political party.
It was initially believed that she may likely pitch her tent with the APC following her ‘sore experience’ with the PDP during the 2015 general elections but the new development has however added a new twist to the whole issue.
