NYSC offers self-employment, wealth creation opportunities to Batch A

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) through its Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme (SAED) has offered self-employment and wealth creation opportunities to 2017 Batch ‘A’ corps members.
According to a statement by NYSC, the training of corps members under the SAED will commence in all orientation camps today. 
The programme, which commenced in 2012, is aimed at curbing the rate of graduate unemployment in the country.
So far, 916, 000 corps members have been sensitised since the commencement of the programme.
Recall that NYSC entered into partnership with stakeholders, including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Bank of Industry (BOI), and the Heritage Bank, with a view to empowering interested corps members with start-up capital to fund businesses conceived after the SAED training.
Also, the NYSC/BOI Graduate Empowerment Fund (GEF), which kicked off in 2015, has so far granted business loans to 407 corps entrepreneurs with maximum amount per beneficiary is N2million. 
The CBN/NYSC Youth Entrepreneurship Development Programme (YEDP) kicked off in 2016, and has so far granted loans of N3million each to seven serving corps members and many ex-corps members, with all loans given at single digit interest.
NYSC is also partnering stakeholders in the private sector to build Zonal Integrated Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Centres in all six geo-political zones. That of the South-West has been completed in Ekiti State. Also, that of the North-East has reached advanced stage in Gombe, while construction work for the South-South was officially flagged off early July 2017 in Delta State.
