Emir appoints new district head, tasks traditional rulers

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari has tasked monarchs and traditional titleholders to always brace up in their responsibilities in order to move the state forward.

Speaking in his palace during the turbanning ceremony of Alhaji Ahmad Tijani Akorede as the Magaji Alawonla of Okelele, the Emir called on monarchs and other traditional title holders to continue to provide strong leadership for people of their domain.

He described the title as well deserved considering the past achievements of the new Magaji, adding that he possessed sterling leadership qualities particularly in ensuring peaceful co-existence and harmonious working relationship with members of his community and the state at large.

Sulu Gambari however called on the stakeholders and members of Okelele to cooperate with Alawonla to move the area and the state to greater heights.

In his remarks, the new title holder, Akorede commended the good gesture of the Emir and promised to provide purposeful leadership to his people.

Alawonla also commended the leader of APC in the state and Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki and Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for their support over the appointment.

In her remarks, the chairperson, Kwara State Local Government Service Commission, Hajia Sarat Adebayo thanked the Kwara State Traditional Council led by the Emir for the trust bestowed on the new Magaji adding that the new appointee is a man of integrity and unifying force. She advised Okelele Community to cooperate with him maximally for the development of the area.
