Paddy McDonagh to fight Nigerian knockout artist

In just over six weeks time, Irish light heavyweight champion Paddy McDonagh [11(0)-2(0)] will look to build on his recent title win and start to create some momentum in his career.

The Mullingar southpaw returned from two years of inactivity in June to outpoint Stevie Collins Jr on the Red Corner ‘For Honour and Pride’ card.

That win has secured the Assassin Boxing man another Red Corner card, and McDonagh will feature on the ‘Champions Elect’ show at the National Stadium on Saturday October 7th.

An opponent for McDonagh has been confirmed, and therefore has plenty of notice for the fight, with the 25-year-old taking on big-punching Nigerian Sunday Ajuwa [13(10)-2(1)], and he will face the African over eight rounds.

One of the top fighters in his country, Ajuwa’s sole defeats came to Commonwealth title challengers Willbeforce Shihepo and Abolaji Rasheed.
