Leading movie marketer, Almaroof becomes Alaafin

 

For his philanthropic gesture and promotion of thespians, Ace movie marketer and Chief Executive Officer of Almaroof Standard Investment, Alhaji Maroof Afolayan has been bestowed with a chieftaincy title.

Almaroof who is the Apashe of Army Arena, Oshodi, Lagos by artistes had the new title of ‘Alaafin of Lagos’ communicated to him last weekend by veteran Yoruba movie actor, Muka Ray Eyiwunmi.

Muka Ray, who played a lead role in “Ashiru Ejire” the blockbuster movie marketed by Almaroof Standard Investment was said to have put a call through to several leading actors and actresses including Jide Kosoko, Yinka Quadri and Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo) to inform them that he has communicated the new title to Afolayan.

On his new title, Almaroof said he was astounded when Muka Ray informed him about the anonymous decision of  ‘A List’ Yoruba actors and actresses to elevate him from Apashe to Alaafin of Lagos.

“It was a huge surprise for me t be given such a high profile title among several movie marketers in Lagos State. For me the new title is a challenge for me to do even more for thespians and to ensure that I live above board,” the Kwara-born marketer, who is also into real estate business said.

Aside nurturing many actors into prominence through his funding of movies, Almaroof has sponsored some artistes such as Yemi My Lover, Adebayo Tijani, Wale Akorede, Ojopagogo, Afeez Eniola and Mercy Ebosele on trips abroad for leisure and production.
