Most institutions’ll go comatose without TETFUND – Kwara Poly Rector

 

The Rector of the Kwara State Polytechnic, Alh Mas’ud Elelu has asserted that most public higher institutions in Nigeria would have gone under without support of Tetfund.

He stated this while playing host to Tetfund officials who were in the institution to sensitise staff on new modalities for accessing sponsorship for academic training, seminars and conferences.

The rector who was represented by the Deputy Rector, Administration, Mrs Olubunmi Ajibade expressed the management’s gratitude to Tetfund for its efforts in uplifting the standard of education in the country, through provision of structures, research grants, conference and seminars’ sponsorship.

She added that if not for Tetfund’s intervention, most tertiary institutions would have gone comatose adding that Kwara Poly will keep following the laid down rules by Tetfund.

While delivering good will message on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Tetfund, Dr. Jacob Alada, the leader of the sensitisation team, expressed delight in the way they were received coupled  with some structures of Tetfund that were noticed in the institution.

While pledging more Tetfund intervention for Kwara poly, he advised the Management to keep obeying the Tetfund guide lines so as to keep enjoying support from Tetfund sponsorship.

The highlight of the training was the presentation of papers on project monitoring, auditing procedures, funds acessment, procurement of books for libraries and rules and regulations guiding tertiary institutions on how to access Tetfund sponsorship.

The sensitisation programme was attended by both academic and non-academic staff of the polytechnic.

Meanwhile, the management of Kwara Poly has announced that the second semester examination of 2016/17 ended peacefully on August 8, 2017, bringing to an end the 2016/17 academic session.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Registrar, Mr. Moses Salami. The management advised all students to proceed on holidays until an announcement is made for resumption.
