253 die, 1,103 injured in 321 road crashes in Kwara – FRSC

The Federal Road Safety Corps, Kwara Sector Command has recorded 321 auto crashes in which 253 deaths were recorded.
This was disclosed by the Sector Commander, Jonathan Owoade during a chat with our reporter in Ilorin, recently.
According to him, the number of people involved in the road accidents was 2,399 while 1,103 were injured.
“From the accidents recorded from January to November. 105 were fatal accident, 191 serious road crashes and 25 minor accidents involving 540 vehicles.”
Owoade explained that the road mishaps were caused by over speeding, cautioning motorists against violating tragic rules, violation and loss of control.
He warned road users to be careful while driving and not to speed in the process.
“Don’t drink alcohol while driving on the road. Make use of sit belt and check engine before setting out on a journey
“Some the taxi drivers always drive on fast lane which is dangerous for them. Some pick passengers in the middle of the road, which is also dangerous for them and passengers too.
“During this Christmas, the drivers should avoid over loading and violating of traffic rules. Also passengers too should caution their drivers whenever the drivers driving recklessly.”
He also urged transporters to obverse the laid COVID-19 protocols always.
