KWSG promises partnership with NANS

 

Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed has promised the readiness of the Kwara State Government to partner the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in order to improve the education sector and the wellbeing of students in the state.

Ahmed who received an award of Peace Ambassador on Friday at the Conference Room of the Governor’s Office in Ilorin, admonished students to embrace peace and shun violence and hostility in the pursuit of their demand always.

The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold, also pointed out that no society can grow in an atmosphere of rancour and acrimony.

He then called on the youth to continually strengthen the peaceful and cordial relationship that exists between the higher institutions and the government in curbing all forms of social vices.

Governor Ahmed however warned the students to avoid politicians who might want to use them to achieve their own political aims as he also promised that the government won’t relent in its effort in continually meet the request of the body.

Speaking, the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Alhaji Kale Ayo, said his ministry recently honoured some students’ leaders as youth ambassadors in the state as a way of promoting harmonious relationship between the youth and government.

Responding, the President of NANS, Comrade Abdulkadir Aliu, appreciated Governor Ahmed for his efforts in making life more meaningful to students. He however called the attention of the governor to the pitiable condition of classrooms and other structures in the state-owned tertiary institutions.
