Eminent Kwarans grace fidau for ex-Kwara lawmaker, Elefo

 

Eminent personalities on Saturday, attended the fidau for the repose of the soul of ex-Kwara lawmaker, Hamidu Giwa Afolabi (Elefo).

Among the personalities who were at Reke, Afon in Asa Local Government Area of the state are; representative of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, former Speaker and a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Razak Atunwa, former Secretary to the State Government Alh. Ganiyu Cook Olododo, former member of the National Assembly Hon. Folorunsho Ayinla and serving and former members of the state House of Assembly.

Also present were members of the state Executive Council, former and serving council chairmen, traditional rulers, clerics and political associates of the deceased.

In their sermons, Ilorin-based Islamic scholars, Dr. AbdulHamid Aminullahi Olohunoyin, Sheikh Nda Salati and Shiekh Gbededun enjoined Muslims to maintain exemplary conduct and spend their endowments to serve Allah and humanity.

They described the late Elefo as generous, humble and God fearing just as they enjoined his immediate family, to take solace in the fact that the deceased lived a life worthy of emulation.

The clergymen noted that the nation would be a better place to live if Muslims imbibe the virtues of the ex-lawmaker.

Hon. Afolabi, who died last Sunday at the age of 64, was until his death, the National President of Association of Micro Finance Institution in Nigeria and had served as member representing Afon Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Chairman, Asa Local Government Council and member, Governing Council of the state College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies, Ilorin.
