Two traders, 25-year-old Aminu Kabir and Aminu Umar aged 24, are cooling their feet in police net for breaking into a warehouse in Mandate Market, Ilorin, Kwara State, recently.
Pilot Crime gathered that the suspects, who are traders in the market, broke into Mistfik Global Resources at Mandate Market earlier this month.
The were said to have carted away food items like cartons of spaghetti and gallons of groundnut oil among others, valued at N2m.
According to a police source, the suspects were caught in the act by one of the security men, Jubril Mohammed, employed to guard the market.
The security man was said to have raised the alarm, which attracted his colleagues, while the suspects were later taken to Adewole police station.
It was further gathered that the case was transferred to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, where they confessed to the crime during interrogation.
“They confessed to have broken into many shops and houses in he area and beyond. Investigation into the case is still on. The suspects will be prosecuted as soon as the investigation is over,” the source added.
Efforts to confirm the case from the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi proved abortive as calls to his mobile number did not connect.
