Cleric frowns at road side garages, urges KWHA to take action

An Ilorin-based Islamic scholar, Shelkh Olohuntoyin Salaty has advised
members of the Kwara State House of Assembly to as a matter of urgency
take active measures in proscribing illegal motor parks in the state
capital.
Salaty, gave the advice while delivering his sermon during the 80th
birthday celebration of Alhaja Maimunat Alarape Alake Lawal held at
Adewole Estate, Ilorin on Sunday.
According to the cleric, road side garages pose a major challenge to
motorists in Ilorin metropolis.
He said it is unconstitutional for transporters to be operating by the
roadside thereby causing traffic gridlock in the state capital.
Salaty also urged officials of the Kwara State Road Traffic Management
Agency (KWARTMA) to be alive to their duties.
He further urged the state government and the state House of Assembly
to take steps and pass Bills that will impact positively on the
masses.
He lamented that members of the 9th House of Assembly were yet to
fulfil their electioneering promises ahead of the last election.
The cleric who congratulated the celebrant for attaining 80 years
enjoined women to emulate Hajia Zubair who he described as a
submissive wife to her late husband, Alhaji Zubair Atanda Lawal.
According to him, arrogance, indiscipline and impatience are some of
the problems responsible for crash of marriages.
He however charged the offspring of the celebrant to take good care of
their mother in order to get favour from Allah.
In his good will message, the Chief Imam Eleyele Central Mosque,
Amukoko Lagos, Sheikh Ahmad Raji recalled that he was one of the
beneficiaries of Hajia Zubair’s kind gesture while growing up.
He said, “As kids, Mama gave us refreshments while going to school
every morning to encourage punctuality.”
He prayed for sound health and happiness for the octogenarian.
Present at the occasion were former commissioner for Health, Hajia
Ayinke Saka, House Leader, Hon. Olawoyin Magaji, Hon. Ambali Ibrahim
and old students of Government High School, Ilorin among others.
