Who should risk performing ritual for a dying child, father or mother?

Imagine a scenario in which a child fall sick and is on the verge of death and it is required that one of the parents should perform a ritual considered to be kind of dangerous, who should shoulder the responsibility? Asks Olanrewaju Bello.

Toba David Ogunshina (Graphic Designer): Either of them should be willing to do it.

Anyone of the parent can perform the ritual. Either the father or the mother can perform the ritual for the child as long as there is  no condition attached. Both parents should be ready to do anything for their child.

Modupeoluwa Bello (Caterer): The mother should be ready to perform the ritual because a child can not have multiple mothers but can have multiple fathers.

Adewumi Oluwafemi (Cyber café Operator): The father is expected to make sacrifices for his family

The father should be responsible for that. Because as a man, he should be ready to sacrifice even his life for his family.

Adebayo Bello: It is prerogative of either of them

In this situation, I think both the parents should be ready to perform the ritual for their child. They should be ready to lay down anything for their child.

Owolabi Abiodun (Civil Servant): A man should be ready to take risks

No one but if it is mandatory, the father should be ready to perform the ritual because a man should be ready to face the risk and reality of life. He should be ready to lay down anything for his family in any circumstance.

Thomas Vivian (Civil Servant): The father should shoulder the responsibility

It is the mother that took care of the child from conception. So, I think the father should be the one to shoulder the responsibility. If the child does not have a father then the mother should do it. But note anything a mother do for a child is very effective.

Folorunsho Omotayo (Student): Whatever mother does for child is always effective

In this situation, the mother should be ready to carry out the obligation. If the child does not have a mother then the father should do it. But note any thing a mother does for a child is very effective.

David Mary (Student): The father is head of the family

:The father should because the father is stronger. He is the head of the family and he should be able to do just anything to protect and guide his family even if that would cost his life. The mother is still going to be the one to take good care of that child when s/he is well again.. So if the mother performs the ritual and she passes on through that, the child (whom the ritual was done for) will most definitely suffer-at the mercy of a step mum whom per-adventure the father marries later.
