Cattle rearer nabbed for motorcycle theft

 

A 20-year-old cattle rearer, Maigari Abbah of Lamba Fulani Camp, Alapa village in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State has been arrested by the police for stealing motorcycle.

It was gathered that the Bajaj Motorcycle with registration number JGB 442 QA was recovered from the suspect.

It was learnt that the case was reported at the Alapa Division police station, consequently leading to his arrest.

According to police source, the suspect was nabbed by vigilante men, Ibrahim Dauda and Abdullahi Bello in charge of security of the area.

The source said that Dauda reported that they were on patrol when they received information that Abbah was in illegal possession of the motorcycle.

The source further said that when they accosted the suspect over the allegation, he was incoherent in his explanation.

It was learnt that the suspect tried to escape while he was being taken to the police station but was unlucky as he was rearrested.

“The case was transferred from Alapa Division station to State CIID for further investigation while the suspect is cooling his feet in our net,” the source said.

The suspect was said to have confessed to the crime during interrogation but yet to disclose from where he stole the motorcycle.

“Investigation is still going on and the suspect will be charged to court at the end of the interrogation,” the police source further said.

Efforts to get the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi to confirm the case proved abortive as calls and text messages to his mobile phone number did not connect.
