Kwara Deputy Speaker restates commitment to dividends of democracy   

 

The Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon Matthew Okedare Jebba  has restated his commitment to continue to provide dividend of democracy to the people of his constituency.
Okedare who was speaking in Jebba on Sunday during the occasion of the commissioning of four motorised boreholes project executed within Jebba ward in Lanwa/Ejidongari constituency noted that it was part of his efforts to assist the APC led government of the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed in line with the manifestoes of the party.
The commissioned boreholes included New Jebba (drilling of motorised borehole), Onipako (Repair and conversion of hand pumps to motorised borehole),     Sabo-ngida (drilling of motorised borehole) and Oke-Yaro (Drilling of motorised borehole).
He said the people will remain key to his service as their representative in the state House of Assembly adding that he was very committed to continue to expend his personal resources to bring succour to the people.
Okedare noted that the programme was an opportunity for him to showcase some of his modest achievements in giving back to the society and people that voted him
“Today, we are commissioning another four motorised boreholes executed within Jebba ward in Lanw/Ejidongari constituency of Kwara  state.
“As we all know, water is the basis of life which all other things resolve around. This means that without accessibility to portable water, this world would be tough if not cruel to live in. It is therefore pertinent for government at all levels to put all hands on deck to make sure there is availability of portable water for the utmost need of the masses in line with the much celebrated millennium development goals.
“Considering this, the Kwara state government led by the Executive Government, Alhaji Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed deemed it necessary to ensure that portable water is made accessible to all Kwarans.
“As a legislator, one cannot sit down and watch the executive arm to do everything. In reality government cannot do everything. But the individuals who are more privileged can complement government’s efforts by quickly responding to the needs and yearnings of our immediate communities”.
He said 15 communities including Lanwa, Gbodi, Bi-Elesin, Odetan, Biribiri, Mofara, Surulere, Oguntulu, Igbira, Budo-Salami, Aiye-Kale, Station road and Oloko has earlier benefitted from his personal intervention in repair of borehole and provision of generators among others, including donation to Churches and Mosques.
He said it was in the light of the above that “I took it upon myself to repair the borehole in my constituency where necessary , refurnished generators to pump water where it is needed and even drilled new boreholes as required in some community.
He said a huge sum of seven million, four hundred and twenty seven thousand (N7,427,000) has been spent across the whole Lanwa/Ejidongari constituency for various projects across various communities to complement the efforts of the  present administration in the state.
In his remarks, the Senatorial Chairman of Kwara North, Alhaji Isiaka Oniwa called the  people to continue to vote the APC in the coming local government elections to continue to enjoy the dividend of democracy.
He described Okedare as worthy son of Jebba and reliable party stalwart who has scarified personally for the party.
Other at the occasion included wife of the Deputy Speaker, Mrs Okedare, Moro APC chairman, Alhaji Sanusi Olanrewaju, Hon Adamu Usman, Hon Umar Gunu and other party stalwarts and supporters.
