It’s no more business as usual, Sarat Adebayo warns LGs staff

The Chairman Local Government Service Commission, Hajia Sarat Ibrahim Adebayo, has urged the Kwara State Local Government and LGEA Pension Desk Officers across the sixteen Local Government in Kwara State to brace up or be ready to be shown the way out if they refused to key into the development agenda of the government.

According to her, there is every need for the workers to maintain the core value of social scheme to justify the confidence reposed in them by the LG Pension Board in line with the policy trust of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.

Adebayo made the call at the maiden meeting with the Pension Desk Officers at the Conference Hall, Local Government Staff Pension Board on Tuesday.

She said the LG Staff Pension Board was established in the year 1989 by the state government with the main objective of catering for the general welfare of the pensioners of the council and LGEA staff through prompt payment of their pension and gratuity.

While acknowledging the importance of the Desk Officers, she charged them not to lose focus on the objective of the board and to do everything possible to enhance welfare of the pensioners.

“This present board was constituted in January, 2017 to reposition thing for more productivity, effectiveness and enhance service delivery.

“It cannot be business as usual. Things must change. Any of you who is not ready to sanitise the system with us cannot work with us. You must be ready to serve and I assure you of total support in the discharge of your duties.

Government policy on Pension Administration in the State is such that a retiree be placed on monthly pension the very month following his or her retirement. We will pursue this policy with all seriousness.

”The delay is not only causing an embarrassment to the board but also inflicting untold hardship to the retirees. As a result, we will not tolerate any undue delay in forwarding of retirees’ documents to the board for immediate action.”

She reassured the officers and retirees of the determination of the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed in making life more meaningful for both the workforce and the retirees.
