A 22-year-old vulcanizer, Sodiq Rasaq and one Abraham Paul have been arrested by men of the Kwara State police command for allegedly breaking into a house in Ganmo, penultimate Sunday.
It was learnt that the suspects broke into the house of Oluwatobi Aledare of Ganmo area while he was away in church and stole a mobile phone valued at N55,200 belonging to one Ajiboye Odunayo.
According to a police source, the case was reported to the area commander’s office and in the course of investigation, the phone was traced and recovered from Paul.
The source further stated that investigation gave lead to arrest of Rasaq, who reportedly sold the phone to Paul at N22,000.
“The suspect who bought the phone was arrested when he couldn’t give a satisfactory account of how he came about the phone.
“Investigation revealed that the duo are hardened criminals, who smoke Indian hemp. Police also discovered that they are known for terrorising the area.”
The suspects confessed during interrogation that they criminally and deliberately conspired to break into the victim’s house and stole his belonging.
Efforts to get the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi on the case, proved abortive as calls and text messages to his mobile phone did not connect at the time of filing this report.
