No fewer than two residents of Warrah Osin in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State were injured in a robbery attack Tuesday night.
The incident, which occurred around 8:45pm saw the tricycle rider and his passenger sustaining injuries.
According to an eyewitness account, armed robbers have overtime taken advantage of a major pothole on the road to dispossess commuters of their belongings.
The witness added that the armed robbers collected money and other valuables from the tricycle passengers while a woman was held for about 15 minutes before she was released.
“This spot has become a flash point for the robbers because of the bad condition of the road. Many unsuspecting commuters have fallen victim to the armed robbers. We call on the state government to as a matter of urgency repair the damaged portion,”
Speaking with our reporter, the Chairman, Warrah Tricycle Emirate Association, Abdulganiyu Sulyman, appealed to the Kwara State Police Command and the state government to come to their rescue.
He noted that this is the second time robbers will attack members of his association on the same road this year, adding that the incident was reported at the Adewole Police station.
“Those people (armed robbers) have been tormenting us for several months now and we have gone to Adewole Divisional Police, Ilorin to make an official complain.
“They promptly moved their men to the spot but we didn’t see them again. We are appealing to them to restore police patrol team to this place,” he pleaded.
Meanwhile, when contacted, yesterday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi said he is unaware of any such incident.
