Kwara FA boss to prioritise grassroots football

 

Newly elected Kwara state football association chairman Mallam Idris Musa has promised to upgrade football facilities and key into grassroots development in his bid to rebuild the credibility of football in Kwara state.
Musa was voted in as Kwara Football Association chairman on Thursday took over from the outgone board led by Mallam Busari Ishola.
“For the first time in the history of Kwara FA leadership role, am the first elected Chairman in the history of the state football,” He said.
“It’s time to re-evaluate and take Kwara football to the next level. We have to do our best to rebuild and professionalise football governance by improving the infrastructures and facilities across the state to go along with our grassroot developmental program”, Idris concluded
On his own part, the elected vice-chairman, Bashorun Bankole, a onetime Special Adviser to the immediate Kwara state government on Sports matters, made it known that football will take a new dimension in the state as the board will look to operate according to the ethics of football governance.
“One of our mission in office is to ensure that we find sponsors for all football teams and programs in the state,” He added.
Musa won with 10 votes of the 22 available votes, his nearest challenger was also a former Special Adviser on sports, Alh. Toyin Sulieman Olokoba, who polled 6.
The remaining six votes was shared equally between Engr Idris Jibril and one-time Nigeria National League board member Alh. Wopa Agbaji.
Prior to the elections, supervised by Nigeria Football Federation officials led by Mallam Ibrahim Gusau and Yusuf Ahmed Fresh, the northern part of Kwara has never produced the chairman of the state football association.
