“Muslims must be their brother’s keeper, Imam urges

The Imam of Sultanat Mosque, Adewole Estate Ilorin, Ustaz Ambali AbdulGhaniy has tasked all Muslims to be their brothers keeper and be helpful to one another to attain the pleasure of Allah (SWT)
AbdulGhaniy said this on Friday while delivering the Friday Sermon (Khutbah) to herald the traditional two rakat congregational prayers, adding that it is incumbent upon every Muslims to feel, share and feel the pain of the trials and predicaments their fellow Muslims are going through.
The Imam enjoined Muslims to be at the forefront in the call to assist and contribute to the progress and upliftment of their fellow neighbours because of the massive reward from Allah.
He advised Muslims not to ignore those in need of help and assistance from them and cultivate the habit of almsgiving and assistance as exemplified by the Prophet (SAW).
He therefore urged the Muslims to give their Zakat to help in poverty eradication in the society and removing fellow Muslims from economic hardship in the country.
“Anyone who seeks for help from you, help the person according to your power and don’t try to be stingy in the guise of poverty.
“As a Muslim, you should also engage in meritorious deeds no matter the circumstance and we should promote it in our work, home and outside environment.
“Zakat is compulsory and a sure way to purify and increase our wealth for those who have reached the limit as legislated by Allah (SWT) to banish poverty from the land and help Muslims established their own businesses to survive.
“What makes Muslim a believer is by loving their fellows, relatives and neighbours around them for the Sake of Allah (SWT).”
