Stakeholders charge grassroots coaches to update their knowledge

 

Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA), Kwara Chapter have been charged to go to certified institutions to obtain their coaching certificates.

The message was passed by football stakeholders in  the state during a 3-day coaching seminar for NFCA held in Ilorin last week.

The seminar, which was organised by the Kwara Chapter of NFCA, through M2YW Sports in conjunction with Sports Coalition Nigeria started on 5th to 7th of April, 2018 at Kwara Football Academy.

While declaring open the seminar, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Mr. Ayobola Samuel, charged the coaches to seek more knowledge on the game of football.

Represented by the State Director of Sports, Malam Tunde Kazeem, Samuel assured the participants the support of the ministry at all times.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Kwara Chapter of NFCA, Tunde Sanni, said one of the purpose of the programme among others was to keep all soccer coaches up-to-date on trend and development in modern football coaching.

He reminded the coaches that the world is not static linking it to football which he said was changing in rules, new techniques, new development evolving everyday and every moment.

Sanni, who is the Technical Adviser of Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Ilorin FC, explained these new ways of developing football, prompted the need for the association to keep its members and other football related individuals informed and updated.

“Time is changing, time is moving, we need to move with time, because, if one refused to move with time, time will move without such a person.

“At the end of this programme, each and every participant would have gained a lot of knowledge and wisdom from our resource persons on various aspects of Football” Sanni said.

The resource persons, include, FIFA and CAF Instructor and Registrar University of Ilorin, Mr. Emmanuel Obafemi, Mr. Gbenga Akinola, Psychologist of Kwara United FC of Ilorin.

Others are Dr. Joseph Adeyemo, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Technical Director, Mr. Bitrus Bewarang, and Shogo Shodunke among others.
