Kwara NUJ protests freedom violation today

 

Following incessant harassment of journalists and press freedom violations in the country, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kwara State council will today join other pen pushers nationwide to stage a peaceful protest.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the state NUJ Chairman, Umar Abdulwahab and the Secretary; Deacon Omotayo Ayanda said the protest will take place across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The statement urged members of the union to assemble 9:00am at the NUJ Press Centre, Offa Road, Ilorin for the commencement of the protest.
“Journalists would march through Offa Road to Government House, Ilorin to seek audience with the state Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed where a letter would be presented to him for onward presentation to President Muhammadu Buhari.
“The National Secretariat of the NUJ had directed that the peaceful protest against incessant attacks on journalists and violation of their human rights across Nigeria should take place simultaneously, nationwide.
“All the state councils and chapels are expected to mobilise their members for the protest.”
