In a bid to beautify the Ilorin International Airport, the management of Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has embarked on tree plantation project.
Pilot Aviation observed that the trees are planted in strategic parts of the airport.
Speaking on the development, the airport manager, Alhaji Ibrahim AbdulAzeez told our correspondent that the tree planting is part of projects lined up by FAAN to beautify the airport premises and keep the environment healthy.
The manager who spoke through the Head of Corporate Affairs, Mr Adeyeoluwa Oluwakayode said, ” It is pertinent to remember that trees are essential to human existence, as they provide food, shelter, remedy for all ill health and source of energy.”
According to him, the trees would also help in control storm; reduce noise pollution, water runoffs and desert encroachment.
“If we must continue to live in good health, planting of trees will be a strategy that must be embraced by all.
“This is because planting of trees is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to preserve mother earth and combat the ravaging effect of climate change.
“I urge residents and organisations to support this campaign so that  together, we can mitigate the effects of climate change and make our cities and communities healthier,” he added.
Recall that this medium had earlier reported the commencement of perimeter fencing of the airport premises by FAAN to replace the old fence as part of giving the facility a facelift.
