Emir, Olofa declare support for Kwara FA

 

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari have handed elected chairman of Kwara state Football association, Malam Idris Musa Thuraya, advice on how to return football in the state to an enviable height.
The Emir stated this Wednesday when the executives of the Kwara FA led by the chairman, Malam Idris Musa paid him a courtesy visit in his palace as part of its tour round the state.
While advising the body, the Emir urged the association to unite in exploring their comparative advantages and tackling the peculiar challenges of the office.
The monarch who at a time was vice president of the Nigeria football federation (then NFA) revealed that there has been lack of synergy between the government and the football administrator’s over the years which he attributed to lack of understanding.
The new board members who bagged a four year term during last month’s elective Congress in the state further visited Ilorin west local government where the management of the local government appreciated and also gave out suggestions on the way forward.Abdulrasaq Aremu, who spoke on behalf of the council, appreciated the board for deeming it fit to    visit the local government.
Aremu made it known that this is the first time the football governing body in the state had visited the council and  believed that it’s a sign of great things to come.
The council also suggested the new board should try as much as possible to unite all football stakeholders in the state.
In a related development, the FA board on Monday paid a courtesy visit on the Oloofa of Offa, His Royal Highness, Oba Muftau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II.
Led by it’s chairman, Malam Idris Musa acknowledged the importance of seeking the blessings of the royal majesty as they intend to move football to greater heights.
Musa said his board has identified Offa township stadium as one of the areas to rebuild sporting facilities and also engage the youths proactively through football tournament.
His royal majesty, Oba Muftau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II while receiving the body, congratulated and pledged his support to the football association during the visit.
The traditional ruler said sports (Football) especially is a tool for human capital development and revealed that Offa community is open to use it as a springboard for poverty alleviation amongst young people.
The Monarch also emphasized on the need for the FA to operate on equity and fairness so as to accommodate others in their plans.
The FA members further visited several places including the Offa township stadium and Oyun local government as part of its familiarisation visits.
