Custom, manufacturers holds seminar on hitch free operations

The Kwara state Command of Nigeria Custom Service has sensitized
members of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) on hitch free
operations regarding  products verification.
The programme which was organized by MAN Kogi/Kwara branch recently in
Ilorin witnessed large turnout of various stakeholders in the state.
Speaking during the consultation seminar the Customs Zonal Commandant
of kwara Area Command, Hussaini Bello Ahmed appealed to manufacturers
to operate within the fulcrum of laid down rules and regulations
He said the issues of substandard goods the federal government has
reintroduce single window to checkmate products.
“If we suspect that the quality of products are substandard the
producers will be arrested and handled appropriately to the standard
Organization of Nigeria for further investigation and right penalties.
According to him they are ready to assist the manufacturers to boost
their export goods and services with the creation of Kwara area zone
recently.
Earlier, the Chairman of MAN Kogi/Kwara branch, Dr. Kamoru Yusuf who
was represented by Mr. John Amodu stressed that the high cost of
production in Nigeria is crippling the activities of industrialists.
He said ” for the economy of any nation to become vibrant steps have
to be taken to ensure that the activities of manufacturers is endowed
with lots of processes to succeed.
” the government of China for instance took a step to give the
activities of internal businesses by guiding against other
competitors. And decided to open their borders after finding that
local firms can compete favourably with others outside the country.
” if you look at Nigerian economy today you will agree with me that
the cost of doing business is very high. We want the government to
guide against smuggling where lots of substandard goods are entering
the country.
” we are appealing to the various security agencies and stakeholders
to synergize to curb these menace of smuggling and other vices to
allow the local manufacturers to strive.
