Kwara APC youth seeks spiritual solution to party’s persistent wrangling

A group within the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives
Congress (APC), has sought for spiritual solution over the persistent
crisis that is rocking the party.
The group under the name Concerned Youth Stakeholders said rather than
continue to watch the fortunes of the APC and the government which it
labored for to get into office crumbles has resolved to stand up and
speak in the interest of peace, unity and decorum within the party.
In the statement which was jointly signed by its coordinator and
secretary respectively, John Olawale Adegboye and Ahmed Kola Akorede
released weekend further warned party elders making inflammatory
statements that negatively impacted the party to desist.
According to the group, the party’s conflicts and contrary opinions
within has suddenly taken a turn for the worse, as a certain elder of
note within the party has started displaying crass immaturity by
ridiculing himself in the public space, thinking he is ridiculing some
certain individuals.
It noted that while it find the situation to be highly unacceptable,
the group was completely appalled at the statements credited to Hon.
Iliasu Ibrahim which is currently trending on the social media space
where he abused the national leader of APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu,
Minister of Information, Tourism and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed,
Minister of State for Transportation, Gbemisola Saraki, former
Chairman Federal Character Commission (FCC), Professor Shuaib Oba
Abdulraheem, One time Chief Whip of Kwara State House of Assembly and
chieftain of the party in Kwara State, Iyiola Oyedepo and some other
respected figures.
Part of the statement reads:
“It is bearable that the disagreement which our Great Party is
grappling with in Kwara State since the build up to the general
elections and which for the sake of overbearing ambition of certain
individuals within the party and their penchant for having it all, led
to a situation whereby the party kept on postponing a gathering
whereby these knotty issues will be settled.
“To further worsen situations, elders such as Hon. Iliasu Ibrahim now
brought a national dimension into a conflict that is supposed to be a
mainly Kwara State affair! The same Hon. Iliasu Ibrahim whose son,
Suleiman Rotimi Iliasu was graciously nominated as a Commissioner.
“As equal stakeholders in the party, we are overtly suspicious of the
activities of some individuals who claim to be supporting Governor
Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq! He (Governor) is our own Governor and we are
100 percent loyal to his Government. You cannot under the pretext of
being a loyalist of the Governor, now create problems and be promoting
crisis for His Administration.
“We understand too well the actions and utterances of some
individuals. What they are trying to portray, is as though other
individuals who are members of APC aren’t core supporters of the
Governor. However, we remember vividly that we were involved in
rallying the party towards supporting the eventual winner as declared
by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Party. What we even
find to be more suspicious and quite strange is the presence of
individuals who were strongly in favour of the opposition up till the
very last minute when the Presidential and National Assembly Elections
was held.
“It was after the results showed that APC won massively in that
contests which prompted them to shift camp overnight to become
“ACCIDENTAL PROGRESSIVES”. We are saddened and in tears over the
unwarranted and totally unnecessary conflicts and acrimony currently
tearing our party apart.
“We have even gone into sessions of prayers beseeching Almighty God to
intervene in this situation. While as loyal members of APC, we are
trying to put out the fire of this raging inferno, we are surprised
that elders, who ought to know better, formed the major divisive
elements working hard to fan into a wild flame, the fire of dissension
and acrimony.
“On this note, we have resolved to revisit the 1993 era in which as a
united people, we put aside religious differences to petition Almighty
God against General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, then Almighty God
answered our prayers. In 1998, we likewise petitioned our maker
against Late General Sani Abacha, he again answered our prayers. We
are likewise confident that if we also go before our Creator to
petition Him against those who are mercenaries, whose stock in trade
is fuelling division in APC Kwara State Chapter for personal gains,
Almighty God will likewise answer our prayers.
“On this note, we are appealing most passionately to our Dear
Governor, the solution to these crises lies in your domain. As APC
Leader in Kwara State, it is up to you to harmonise everyone together.
The division currently prevailing can never assist you in delivering
good governance to the good people of Kwara State who are currently
being led by you.. We are appealing to our father, Alhaji Abdulrauf
Olayiwola Mohammed, Hon. Minister of Information, Tourism and Culture,
Alhaji Lai Mohammed, to wade into this situation as this government
was your brain child and you were the one that superintended the
accomplished Kwara liberation struggle. We call on our father, Akogun
Iyiola Oyedepo; you sacrificed a lot and championed the struggle. You
paid your dues selflessly to enthrone this government. We urge you to
as face of the liberation struggle, wade into the situation and we
appeal our father, Prince Sunday Fagbemi and our father and erudite
scholar, Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem, to please continue to show
maturity, godliness and a forthright fatherly disposition which made
him (Oba) to be a widely respected APC stakeholder. May Satan not
hypnotise us into using our hands to destroy a house we all labour to
build.
“…This nonsense must stop… We are thus suing for peace, decorum and
constructive dialogue. APC must succeed and we will do anything within
our capacity as individuals to ensure that our sacrifices to achieve a
liberated Kwara State are not rendered a waste”, it added.
