Cult Clash: 4 suspected cultists docked in Ilorin

 

Four suspected cult members were yesterday, arraigned before an Ilorin
magistrate court for causing mayhem in the community.
The defendants; Adegoye Adesoji, Fatai Saka, Waheed Arowolo,
Abdulfatai Toheeb, were brought before magistrate Muhammed Ibrahim.
They were charged for the offences of criminal conspiracy, belonging
to gang of thieves, disturbance of public peace, being member of
prohibited secret cult society contrary to sections 97,306,113,114
(Special Provision) section 1 of secret cult and society (Prohibited
Law of Kwara State) law No. 15 of 2013.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the first defendant,
and others were arrested by SARS operatives led by Inspt. Ali Matthew
at Gbagba area, off airport.
The security investigation revealed that the suspected cultists were
members of the Eye and Aye confraternity.
The police report added that one Taoheeb Saka of Aiye confratenity
attacked an opposing cult member at Saw Mill area, in Ilorin.
In a reprisal attack, one Waheed Arowolo popularly called Bamu Aye,
reportedly led an onslaught where one Moffi and Soji were inflicted
with bottle injuries.
During the clash, the cult members while armed with dangerous weapons,
were said to have put the community in fear.
Magistrate Ibrahim, in his ruling, ordered the remand of the
defendants in Correctional Service centre while the case was adjourned
to 15th December, 2019.
