KWHA orders coordinator to refund N4.2m Fadama fund

..as Femi Yusuf emerges Commission chair

The Kwara State House of Assembly has ordered the Fadama farm project coordinator in the state, Alhaji Yusuf ldrees-Agbabiaka to refund N4.2 million undisbursed fund to seven farm groups.
This was part of the resolution of the House during plenary after adopting the report of its committee on Agriculture that investigated alleged misappropriation of N4.2 million Fadama project fund last Thursday.
The Fadama groups are rice growers across the state.
One of the Fadama farmers had written a protest letter to the House Committee on Agriculture to investigate alleged undisbursed fund by the coordinator.
The Chairman of the Committee, Ojo Olayiwola (APC, Odo-Ogun) who presented the report said all evidence before it indicated non disbursement of N4.2 million balance of Fadama fund to all the affected farmers.
The Speaker, Engr. Danladi Yakubu-Salihu while reading the resolution of the House on the matter ordered Alhaji Yusuf ldrees-Agbabiaka to refund the undisbursed Fadama fund.
The House urged Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to disengage the project coordinator and other key management officers and replace them with competent hands.
Also, during plenary, the house passed a bill seeking establishment of Kwara Sports Commission.
The bill was passed after the house adopted the report of the House Committee on Information Youths, Sports and Culture.
The Speaker directed the clerk of the house, Halimah Kperogi to produce a clean copy of the bill for Governor’s assent.
Meanwhile, the Speaker has announced reconstitution of the state House of Assembly Service Commission.
Recall that the house dissolved members of the Commission constituted by the immediate past administration towards the end of its tenure.
According to Danladi, the new Chairman of the Commission is Mr Yusuf Abdulrasheed- Oluwafemi while Gbemisola Oguntimehin, Ganiyu Adekunle, Muhammad Saidu and Rasheedah Kolawole are members.
