Salesboy arrested for stealing N2.5m goods

 

A 24-yr-old salesboy, Chinedu Oguine has been arrested by police for allegedly stealing goods worth N2,508,900 belonging to his boss, recently.

Pilot Crime learnt that the suspect was arrested alongside his accomplice, Uzochuku Ejiofor who received the stolen goods.

It was gathered that the salesboy had allegedly been pilfering items from his boss’ shop unnoticed over a period of time, which he sold to a buyer.

Luck was said to have ran out on the suspect when his boss took stock of the goods in the shop and discovered that goods valued at N2.5m was missing.

According to Police source, the case was reported at the Area Commander’s office by the victim Thompson Oguine of Taiwo road, Ilorin.

“Oguine employed the suspect sometimes in 2017 as his sales officer and handed over the business to him to run while he was away.

” However, when the boss came around and took inventory of his goods, it was discovered that some were missing.

“The businessman said that he later discovered that it was his salesboy perpetrating the crime when he was caught trying to cart away electrical materials worth N40,000 after the close of the day’s business.

The police source added that following the complaint; the suspect was arrested and taken into custody at the Area Command.

“During interrogation the sales boy confessed to the crime and named Ejiofor as the receiver of the stolen goods.

“The confession led to the arrest of the businessman, who owns a shop opposite Oguine’s. Ejiofor also confessed to have collected the goods from Chinedu.”

Efforts to contact the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi over the matter proved abortive, as calls and text messages sent to his mobile lines were not responded to at the time of filing this report.
