Bolaji Abdullahi to begin mentorship programme for youths, Aug 12

Former minister of Youth and Sports Development, Bolaji Abdullahi will commence a mentorship programme for young persons on August 12.
August 12 has been fixed by the United Nations as International Youth Day, which focuses attention on issues surrounding youth development and also encourage their participation in politics, economic processes, among others.
The mentorship series is organised for young people to tap from the knowledge, experience and deep insight of the accomplished journalist, politician and author.
A statement explained that the programme is in response to the calls from many young people who hope to leverage Abdullahi’s knowledge and experience for personal growth and development.
“Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi has continued to demonstrate his confidence and deep commitment to the growth and development of Nigeria’s youth demography. He believes that their creative idea, innovation and energy can be maximised for nation building and collective good,” it read.
“On Wednesday, August 12, which is also the International Youth Day, the first Mentorship Series will be held via zoom, a teleconferencing platform.
“The Programme will be a unique opportunity for diverse young people to speak and engage with Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi on different issues.”
Abdullahi is a former deputy editor at THISDAY newspaper and has served as special assistant, communication and strategy to Bukola Saraki, a former governor of Kwara State.
In 2007, he was appointed as the Kwara state commissioner of education, science and technology and later served in the cabinet of former President Goodluck Jonathan as minister of youth and sports development.
He is a former spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the author of ‘Sweet Sixteen’ — a book adopted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) — and ‘On A Platter of Gold’.
