A Federal lawmaker at the House of Representatives for Baruten / Kaiama constituency, Hon Mohammed Omar Bio, has restated his commitment towards ensuring that youths entrepreneurs in the constituency were supported with micro credit facilities under Small and Medium Enterprises Interventions scheme.
The lawmaker gave the assurance during the Vocational Entrepreneurship Skill Development Training and Empowerment programme under the National Business Skills Development Initiative organised by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), held at Favour Hall, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
He charged the youths to channel their energy towards positive engagement in entrepreneurship development in the constituency and the state at large.
According to him, the youths should embrace agriculture as one of the solutions to unemployment and total dependency.
His words: “My representation focuses attention on youth entrepreneurship because I believe it is very important to nation building and a country endowed with resources such as Nigeria cannot afford to remain a net importer of food, especially with large number of active and energetic youths.
Bio added that his representation was able to focus on the policy thrust of shaping the youths capacity toward a productive direction through vocational skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development meant to take many youths off the unemployment queue and provide them temporary shelter where they can comfortably navigate their career possibilities.
He therefore implored the youths to conduct themselves peacefully, even in the face of provocation, adding that “Kwara State is known as the State of Harmony and people must all strive to preserve that identity.
While appealing to them to shun acts inimical to their proper development and wellbeing, especially in the areas of cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping, banditry, raping and ritual killings among other social vices, Bio promised to continue to explore ways of uplifting the constituency especially the youth.
