“Islam stresses peace irrespective of religious, political differences”

The need for Nigerians to embrace peace irrespective of religious, political and ethnic difference has been stressed.
Chief Imam of Malete Central Mosque in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State, Dr Abdullahi Ibrahim made the call during a Jumuah sermon penultimate Friday.
Ibrahim, who expressed concern over the recent EndSARS protest across the country, said that Islam value peaceful coexistence at all times as no meaningful development would be achieved without harmony.
He implored Nigerians to emulate Prophet Muhammad in all their dealings and pray for leaders over affairs of the country.
Dr Abdullahi, who is also a lecturer at Kwara State University, Malete, advised leaders and parents to lead by example and be dutiful to Allah and humanity as they would give account of everything in the hereafter.
Meanwhile Islamic clerics in different parts of Ilorin metropolis penultimate Friday harped on the need for Muslims and other citizens alike to emulate the virtues of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in day to activities.
The clerics made the call during their various sermons to mark the Jumuah service shortly before the observation of the traditional two unit of prayer.
According to the Imam, Akoto central mosque, Apata Yakuba in Ilorin-East local government area of Kwara State, Sheikh Abdulrasak Musa, Muslims should emulate the teachings of Prophet Muhammad in their daily engagement adding that he was historically revered as a man of many virtues.
Also in his sermon, the Deputy Imam of Alagbado Phase II, Eyekorin, Asa local government area of the state, Imam Tajudeen Abdulsalam enjoined Muslims to imbibe the qualities of the Prophet (SAW) in their daily activities. Abdulsalam also urged Muslims to exercise extreme patience in all matters in line with the dictates of the Prophet and his preference to peaceful living and patience on all issues.
For his part, the Imam, Nawair-ul-Deen Society of Nigeria, Ilorin branch, Alhaji Isiaq Abubakar-Sidiq advised leaders in the country to always preach for peace in other to achieve development of the country. The cleric stressed that no meaningful development would be achieved in an atmosphere of violence and bloodshed and called on the citizens to be peace makers to accelerate more development in the country.
Also in his Jummat sermon, the Imam, Asmau Central mosque, Gaa-Imam in Ilorin West local government area of the state, Imam Mahmud Shitta-Olayinka advised Muslims to use the occasion of Maolud Nabbiy celebration to renew the resolve in promoting unity, tolerance, love, harmony and peaceful coexistence in the country.
Imam Shitta-Olayinka said the message of Prophet Muhammad teachings would have a far greater impact on attitudinal change and peaceful co-existence.
