4 remanded for alleged murder of Kwara Poly student over suspected goat theft

An Ilorin Magistrate Court on Friday ordered the remand of four men in correctional centre, Waheed Wahab, Gbenga Odeyemi, Tunde Tijani and Tope Ibrahim for allegedly conspiring to kill one Adedeji Israel.
The Police charged the accused with two count of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide Contrary to Section 97 and 221 of Penal Code Law.
Magistrate Ibrahim Dasuki who presided over the matter ordered the remand of the defendants at Oke-Kura Correctional Service, Ilorin and adjourned the case till tomorrow Feb.23 for further mention.
According to the Police First Information Report (FIR), the deceased who was alleged of stealing goat was attacked by the defendants with cutlass, sticks and other dangerous weapons which led to his untimely death.
The Prosecuting Counsel, Inspector Zacheaus Folorunsho told the court that the investigation conducted revealed that the deceased was a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
Folorunsho said that the deceased was on his way to the school when the allegation of stealing was made against him leading to jungle justice meted on him by the defendants.
He prayed for an adjournment to enable the police complete its investigation.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
