By Jimoh Sulyman
Muslims have been entreated to be more adherent to their religion most importantly their Solat during this noble month of Ramadan
This was said on Friday by the Chief Imam of Ansarudeen central mosque, Imam Shafi’i Muhammad while delivering his sermon before leading the congregants in the weekly two units prayer.
The Cleric charged the Muslim to be dutiful in the worship of Allah, especially their solat in this month of Ramadan.
He emphasized that Solat is the first and most crucial criteria for a Muslim to be admitted into Jannah and without it, all other form of Ibadah will be null and void.
The Imam continued, “All the good deeds that Islam enjoined should be amplified in this month of Ramadan, good deeds such as giving charity and zakat for anyone who is qualified to give to those due.
“Filial piety is also a cherished virtue in Islam, a Muslim is mandated to treat their parents and their family members with care and respect”, he noted
The cleric also warned the congregation to shun all that Islam proscribed, especially those things that can affect the fast.
He added, “The things that can jeopardize our fasting, that may seem mild to us but are loathsome in the sight of Allah, include backbiting, gossiping, pilfering and fraud”.
The Imam also dissuaded Muslims from acts of rebellion and conspiracy against the authority and fellow humans because Allah is against it.
“The people should do to others what they want others to do to them and don’t do to others what you wouldn’t want to be reciprocated to you”.
He however called on the people to take advantage of the month of forgiveness to seek for Allah’s forgiveness for all their intentional and unintentional misdeeds.
