Burna Boy, Nigerian singer, has teased fans about his next album christened ‘Outsider’.
The Grammy award-winning artiste broke the news in a series of tweets on Friday.
According to the ‘African Giant’ singer, the project would chronicle his pains in the music landscape and how he has successfully braced the odds to achieve the seemingly impossible.
“This next album. I need you to hear the pain in my voice. The pain of an OUTSIDER, forever marked by my skin, my past and the place I come from No matter how skilled I am or how honourable I proved myself,” he wrote.
The ‘Ye’ crooner added that the project would examine the hatred for him in some quarters and how he has managed to silence critics.
“I forever suffer. The dull-eyed masses hatred of anything they do not understand. I embraced my pain and turned it into the greatest weapon this world will ever know,” he added.
The project will be the ‘Wonderful’ singer’s sixth album. It also comes following the success of ‘African Giant’ and ‘Twice As Tall’, his fourth and fifth albums, respectively.
With numerous awards and recognition, the singer, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, has established himself as a household name in the global music industry.
He had recently reflected on how his Grammy win earlier this year felt like he had broken an oppressive mental cycle where Nigerians don’t believe they can achieve certain things.
“I wasn’t celebrating because of myself. It was almost as if I’ve broken a mental cycle of our people,” he had said.
“Because our people have been very mentally oppressed to feel like they can’t do certain things and that certain things are unreachable. You are what you think, at the end of the day.”
