Police arrest cleric over alleged rituals

 

The men of Kwara State Police command have arrested a 28- year -old cleric.  Kehinde Hamad for alleged rituals.

The suspect, said to be an Arabic student at Koko Compound Abayawo/Ogidi of Ilorin was nabbed in connection with the three human skulls recovered from one Sulaiman Ajenifuja.

It would be recalled that 32 -year -old Ajenifunja who claimed to be a staff of Lagos State Waste Management Agency (LAWMA) was last month paraded at the state police headquarters.

Ajenifunja was apprehended along Ogbomoso-Eyenkorin Express way while coming from Lagos with the exhibits.

According to the state Commissioner of Police, Lawan Ado, the skulls wrapped in sack, were recovered from a black bag belonging to the suspect.

According to a police source, the cleric was arrested following discreet investigation and interrogation of the principal suspect.

“The principal suspect, Ajenifuja confessed to the crime and he gave the mobile telephone number of the cleric to the officer for discreet investigation.

“The police source states that, the case was transferred to Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department of the Police headquarters where the telephone number was tracked, which led to the arrest of the cleric.

“The cleric confessed to have contacted the principal suspect Ajenifuja  to bring the human skulls from Lagos, for the preparation of charms,” the source added.

The source further said that the two suspects will be taken to court after investigation into the crime has been concluded.  .

When contacted, the state police Spokesperson, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi told our report that he did not have knowledge of the development.
