UITH CMD, Olatinwo, charges public on regular exercise

Chief Medical Director, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Professor Abdulwaheed Olatinwo has identified regular engagement in sports as key factor to healthy living.

Professor Olatinwo who gave the advice in Ilorin on Tuesday when he received members of the State Executive Council of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), said sports and health have symbiotic relationship.

The Chief Medical Director maintained that Sports is a unifying factor, which he had used to achieve industrial harmony in the hospital.

According to him, sports has been used to bring all professional bodies together in the hospital through the monthly jogging exercise and end inter-professional rivalries among  workers.

Professor Olatinwo also disclosed that the UITH football club, the Injectors was doing well in the National League and hoped that the Club would soon gain promotion to the professional league.

He promised to continue to support sport development in the Hospital and the state in general, promising to sustain synergy with SWAN in promoting sports for healthy living.

In his remarks, the State Chairman of SWAN, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Bibire said the visit was to honour and commend the CMD for his contribution to sports development.

Bibire who conveyed the decision of SWAN executives to appoint the CMD as one of its Patrons, enjoined him not to relent in the vanguard of promoting sports to ensure sound minds and physical fitness.
