Yekods CEO vows to complement KWSG on job creation

The Proprietor of Yekods Catering School, in Ilorin Kwara State, capital, Mrs Bolanle Mustapha, yesterday, stated that she intends to complement efforts of the state government in creating job opportunities for the teeming youths.

Mustapha stressed that self employment is imperative in the recent society, adding that youths must learn not to waste their time on the non-existing white collar jobs any longer.

According to her, Yekods has employed five foreign chefs to train students on both local and international dishes while also stating her readiness to collaborate with Kwara State Ministry of Education.

She said, “We are looking at meeting the Commissioner of Education and my mission is to ensure this school get to university standard where we can get affiliated with a Federal University in the country.

“We don’t want anyone carrying our certificate without being able to defend it and our students will be thoroughly groomed on culinary, catering work and the rest.”

Speaking on the scope of training, Mustapha said the training will last for six months after which the students will be placed on training in order to ensure that they get the prerequisite knowledge.

Reacting, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Alhaji Usman Bibire Ajape, commended the efforts of  Mustapha in alleviating unemployment in the state even as he said government will be ready at all times to assist the school.

He said, “I’ll advice you partner the government as there are no white collar jobs for our youths anymore. Government will be ready to assist even with soft loans just to ensure businesses like these moves forward.”

In the same vein, former chief press secretary to the immediate past governor of the state, Alhaji Mas’ ud Adebimpe urged the youth in the state to take a clue from Yekods and rise up to the economic challenge the country is faced with.

He said, “entrepreneurship has come to stay in our society and this is the time we should try to exploit every opportunity.”

Among those at the catering school on courtesy visit is the Personal Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Political Matters (Kwara Central), Alhaji Hassan Gegele, the Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of National Pilot newspaper, Alhaji Billy Adedamola and Alhaji Ahmed Dembo among others.
