Police arrest 2 suspected kidnappers, burglar in Kogi

The Kogi State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers and a notorious house burglar who have been terrorising residents of the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Williams Inalegwu made this known while speaking with newsmen at the Command headquarters in Lokoja.
Inalegwu stated that the Command through the implementation of its crime fighting strategies is recording huge success of late.
The Police boss explained that one Moses Ododo, a member representing Dekina/Biraidu Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly reported that unknown hoodlums were threatening him via GSM phone to give them the sum of N3million to avoid being kidnapped.
He stated that the operatives attached to Special Anti-Robbery Squad promptly swung into action and accompanied the complainant to the agreed point where money will be dropped at Omadeni village in Dekina Local Government of Kogi State and laid siege on the suspects.
“The operatives arrested the suspects while trying to pick the money and arrested the duo of Omeje Shehu and Mohammed Jibril, while others fled into the bush,” he said.
According to him, one locally made pistol, live cartridge and 13 cowries were recovered from the gang just as effort is on to track down the fleeing suspects.
In another development, the CP added that one Bello Shetima was nabbed following a tip off that the suspect with others at large broke into the home of one Emmanuel Baba and Onimi Reuben both of Zango-Daji area.
“The suspects made away with several items including one 42 inches Plasma Samsung Television valued at N40,000.00, one 32 inches LG Plasma Television valued at N37,000.00 and the sum of N71,000.00. Also recovered were two Plasma Television set.
The suspect confessed belonging to a notorious syndicate that specialises in invading houses in Lokoja to rob,” he added.
