Man commits suicide over debt in Kwara

...as cultists kill one in Ilorin

Tragedy occured Monday in Erinmope community in Ayedun, Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State when the lifeless body of a 25-year-old man, Olakunle Obaoye was discovered hanging on a tree.
It was gathered that the deceased reportedly committed suicide out of frustration as a result of financial challenges.
He was said to have ended his life over inability to settle his debt.
The Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara State Babawale Afolabi, who confirmed the incident, said the corpse of Obaoye was evacuated from the scene for burial on the fateful day.
According to him,
“On Monday 17/01/2022 at about 1200 hours one Thomas Obaoye of Ayedun town went to our divisional office in the area to notify our men about the demise of his brother Olakunle Obaoye, 25, whose lifeless body was found hanging on the tree in what look like a suicide.
“Our men from Ayedun Division mobilised to the scene of the incident and worked together with the relatives of the victim to bring down his corpse from the tree. The dead body was later handed over to the family for proper burial,” he added.
He disclosed that the case has been transferred to police for further investigations and necessary action.
Meanwhile, a 20- year-old man simply identified as Lytin has reportedly been murdered in cold blood by suspected cultists.
National Pilot gathered that the deceased was murdered on Wednesday evening along Stadium road in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Speaking to this medium, a resident of the area who craved anonymity for security reasons, claimed that the victim was member of a dreaded cult group.
“He was a known cultist. Some few days before his death, he was in Oja-Iya area where he had gone to accost members of a rival cult whom he threatened to kill,” the source further said.
When contacted the Police spokesperson, Kwara State command, SP Ajayi Okasanmi, said he was yet to be informed of the incident.
