Ex-convict arrested for robbery in Ilorin

Kwara State police command has arrested an ex-convict, Abdulrahaman Abdulwahab for alleged robbery attack in Tanke area, Kwara State, penultimate Monday.
Abdulwahab said to be leader of a four-man gang reportedly attacked their victims at night on the fateful day.
It was gathered that the suspected armed robbers gained entrance into the victim’s compound by scaling the fence.
According to a police source, the suspect and his gang members beat up and robbed the security guard, Micah Christopher, before forcefully gaining entrance into the main house.
It was further gathered that during the robbery operation, Abdulwahab was overpowered by one of the victims while the other three took to their heels.
“The case was taken to “F” Divisional police station of Tanke area and later transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department of the state police headquarters for discrete investigation,” the source further disclosed.
He added that the suspect is being interrogated and has given lead for the arrest of fleeing members of his gang.
Pilot Crime learnt that the suspect had earlier been convicted and jailed for 19 years but was granted amnesty by the state Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed recently.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the incident.
According to him during a telephone chat at the weekend, the suspect who was pardoned by the state government was nabbed again by Federal Security Anti-Robbery Squared of the state command for robbery.
He said furthered that the case is still being investigated, adding that the suspect will be charged to court soon.
