Kwara CP assures of security on campuses

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Lawan Ado has assured of the commitment of his command   to ensure security on campuses of tertiary institutions across the state.

Ado gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy visit on the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali in his office as part of his familiarisation visits to some selected institutions in the state.

Ado, who was recently deployed to the state has been touring institutions in the state to seek collaboration of the management with the police towards ensuring peace and security in the state.

He added that security will be strengthened, not only on school campuses, but in all nooks and crannies of the entire state.

The new Police boss expressed happiness over the serenity of the campus and high level of decorum displayed by the students, saying that what he observed really indicated that “Unilorin is better by far.”

He therefore pledged continued support of his men and officers in joining hands with the university to enable it sustain its peaceful atmosphere, which the institution is known for across the country and beyond.

The police boss, also gave kudos to management of the University of Ilorin for the sustenance of peace and order on the campus.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor expressed gratitude to the state command for its continuous support, pointing out that University of Ilorin would not have recorded relative peace and harmony being enjoyed without the cooperation of the police.

The Vice Chancellor particularly thanked security agencies in the state for supporting and assisting the University.

Ambali, however, urged students in the institution to continue in the same spirit so as not to disrupt the university’s 17 years of uninterrupted academic activities.
