After missing out on promotion last term, Kwara United has been able to return to the Nigeria Professional League with three games to spare.
United secured 13 victories, two draws and four defeats and presently have an unassailable 10 points lead at the top of the Northern Conference of the National League. United’s promotion is more commendable given the fact that the team secured four surprise away wins against Taraba United, Kogi United, Adamawa United and Kaduna United. Added to the away wins are two draws on the road against FRSC and FC Abuja.
Michael Ohanu is the standout player of the team after scoring 21 goals (three hat-tricks inclusive). Unlike last season when Ohanu lived in the shadows of Segun Alebiosu, this former IfeanyiUbah FC forward has turned the corner as everything he touched has turned to goals. United will do well to keep the player for next season with a number of NPFL clubs already circling him.
The management and technical crew of Kwara United must start preparation for life in the NPFL now. The present squad of the team must be bolstered with major signings ahead of the 2018 season.
