25-yr-old remanded in Ilorin for allegedly beheading friend

The magistrate court sitting in Ilorin the state capital on Tuesday remanded one Habeeb Aliyu over alleged murder.

The accused person allegedly killed his friend, Umar Ismail of Sunbare village, Banni Kwara state with a cutlass.

The police First Information Report (FIR) revealed that on 23/09/2018, Umar was said to have gone grazing but never returned.

It further stated that Habeeb had earlier told the deceased’s parent that Umar had gone grazing somewhere that they should not bother to look for him.

It revealed that there was a fight between them, Habeeb, the deceased squeezed Usman’s  penis, leading to misunderstanding and during the fight, the suspect killed the deceased using a cutlass to cut off his head.

Umar’s body was latter found by a search party In the bush without his head while information led to arrest of the accused person.

In the course of investigation, Habeeb led detectives to the recovery of the deceased’s head which he cut off with a cutlass where he hid it.

Habeeb however confessed to the crime.

Habeeb was dragged before Magistrate Miriam Dasuki for culpable homicide contrary to section 221 of penal code.

The prosecutor, Ayemi Gbenga prayed the court to remand the accused person in prison pending the completion of investigation.

In his ruling, the magistrate remanded the accused person in Federal prison while the case was adjourned to October 16, 2018.
