Kwara workers endorse Atunwa

 

Kwara workers under the auspices of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Joint Negotiation Council (JNC) have endorsed the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. Razak Atunwa.
The Chairmen, NLC and NUC in the state, Comrades Yekini Agunbiade and Kola Olumoh, respectively, promised an unprecedented support for the PDP guber candidate having signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government on some outstanding entitlements of workers at local government level and pensioners to which Atunwa promised to implement.
The MoU was signed by Comrade Agunbiade(NLC), Olumoh (TUC), Comrade Salihu Sulyman (JNC), Comrade Toyin Salihu (NUT),Yusuf Salihu (NULGE) and Comrade Seidu Oladimeji, National Union of Pensioners (NUP).
Speaking earlier at a meeting with heads of various workers’ unions at the Labour House, Ilorin, the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed said the PDP governorship hopeful, Atunwa, is the most competent and prepared candidate among the contestants for the state’s top seat.
The governor, who directed the immediate payment of a month salary to local government workers and pensioners however promised that all categories of workers in the state would get paid as at when due under the government of Atunwa if elected.
According to the governor, necessary machinery has been put in place by his administration to ensure an unhindered payment of N30,000 minimum salary to workers in the state by his successor.
The governor said, “Among all the candidates for the governorship seat in the state, only Atunwa possesses the requisite qualification of experience, integrity and competence to do a better job for our state”.
“Atunwa’s experience in the executive and the legislative arms of government provide him the technical know-how to hit the ground running.”
The governor, who attributed the salary crisis at the local government level to shortfall in allocations, assured labour leaders that any arrears that would not be paid by him would be paid by his successor.
In his remarks, Hon Atunwa pledge to abide by the decisions to pay N30,000 minimum wage and regular payments of workers at both state and local government levels, including pensioners.
