The Imam of Al-Hikmah University, Ustaz Sanusi Haruna has tasked clerics, who would lead at various eid grounds during the Eid Kabir celebration to weave their sermon around current national issues.
He gave the charge while delivering his sermon during the Jumaat service held at the institution’s mosque on Friday.
“Let your sermon be based on current issues affecting our country, state and community as well as things happening at different locations within the community,” he stressed.
On the conduct of Muslims during the celebration, he warned against indecent dressing and reckless driving by motorists.
He advised Muslims to offer intense praises to Allah three days prior to the celebration, noting that it is an act that is highly rewarding spiritually, urging those who have the strength to engage in fasting before going for the eid prayer.
The cleric also tasked them to recite Allahu Akbar (God is great) while heading for the prayer ground, but cautioned against constituting public nuisance.
Haruna who is also a lecturer at the institution, called on wealthy Muslims to share their slaughtered rams with their less privileged brethren.
“Give those who don’t have the wherewithal to slaughter rams during the Eid kabir and don’t give out portions of the meat to those who have the privilege to kill rams,” he added.
