Aiteo Cup: ABS edges Adamawa Feeders in 9-goal thriller

Adeshina Gata scored a hat-trick and put up a Man of the Match performance to help Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Ilorin FC beat Adamawa Feeders 6-3 in a round of 32 Aiteo Cup yesterday in Ilorin.

Gata opened the scoring with just two minutes on the clock when an Adamawa Feeders defender deflected the ABS’s striker’s shot into his own net.

The youngster doubled the lead two minutes later after dribbling past no fewer than three defenders.

In the 6th minute, Kazil Mohammed capitalised on ABS’s defensive error to lob the ball over Yinka Adewale in goal for the Saraki Boys to make the score line 2-1.

Gata returned from where he stopped in the first half troubling the Adamawa Feeders defence in the second half.

He completed his hat-trick in the 53rd minute when he rounded the entire Adamawa Feeders defenders before hitting the back of the net.

Ibrahim Abdullahi, who replaced Orji Ejike in the 56th minute, added to the Saraki Boys’ tally in the 62nd minute, with a delightful finish to make it 4-1.

Martin Ossy added the fifth goal for the Saraki Boys in the 72nd minute.

Adamawa Feeders’ Babangida Salihu scored the first of his brace in the 74th minute when he capitalised on another ABS’s defensive blunder only to complete his brace by heading past Adewale from a Yusuf Isa’s cross in the 85th minute.

Ossy completed the Saraki Boys’ rout and his second of the day in time added on, curling a well taken shot beyond Mamure Amako in goal for Adamawa Feeders.

Meanwhile, the story was not the same with the other representative of the state, Kwara United as they lost narrowly to Osun United 4-3 via penalty after the encounter ended goalless in regulation time.
